How to get a work permit or residence card?

What should I do if I am already in Poland but don’t have documents?
Contact the office for foreigners (Urząd) to legalize your stay. You can apply for a residence card based on your work or studies. It is important not to delay the process and to have valid grounds (employment, education).
How to extend a work visa?
You can extend your work visa by submitting an application to the Polish consulate in your home country or by applying for a temporary residence card (karta pobytu) if you are already in Poland.
Is knowledge of Polish required to work in Poland?
Knowing Polish is often welcomed but not always required. For some jobs, basic communication skills or even no language knowledge are sufficient.
How long does it take to process work documents?
On average, processing work documents in Poland takes between 2 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of permit, the office workload, and the completeness of your documents.
